For some strange reason, the bars on the Ninja are angled inward toward the rider quite a bit. Unfortunately, the subframe looks to be welded to the motorcycle instead of bolted on, meaning modifying it would still be possible, but irreversible. Either way, there would be some extensive modifications needed to have some space to scoot back without knees touching elbows.

One of the first things anybody does to their motorcycle is change the exhaust, and the Ninja is no different. As a performance-oriented guy, the extra power and reduced weight an aftermarket exhaust brings is a nice benefit. Of course, simply adding an aftermarket exhaust is only part of the solution.

With the Ninja in particular, the engine will spin up to 12k rpm, but seems to hit a flat spot once it approaches those engine speeds. One of the easiest ways for manufacturers to bring the cost of a motorcycle down is to equip it with basic suspension. Unfortunately, the Ninja is not immune to these tactics.

That said, the standard suspension on the baby Ninja is quite good considering how bare bones it is. Apart from having a cramped seating quarters, the pegs are also fairly close, creating a relatively tight seat-to-peg ratio. With a set of lower pegs and more space to move in the saddle, the Kawasaki could pull off some light-duty touring.

The little Ninja is another motorcycle needing of the modification. To be fair, the standard brakes are actually quite good — rubber lines and all. But they could be better. With these eight changes the Ninja would be transformed. It may not win many drag races, but it would be the bike that could nearly do it all, especially impressive considering its displacement category. Share this Article. Terms of Use. Maybe mods can move it. Funny how all the dyno charts I've seen have a flat top end. My old race gained right up to the redline. I suspect the has a much more restrictive airbox to deal with Euro4 regs. And those racing supersport rules are stuck with it. The bike is choking. Damn the bike could really see gains with pod filters. My buddy who bought my old is now building a I hope he's not disappointed with the dyno results.

Most likely milder cam-specs. Easier to pass emissions that way. Also hefty low-end torque compared to and lbs lighter too! Yes Norton suggests cutting the air box and removing the snorkels with their velocity stacks. Originally Posted by BretSV. For the Norton motor sports guy.

Try my Dual stack idea. Basically make the primary stack as short as possible whilst maintaining a smooth intake radius with the correct taper. Then add a secondary velocity stack mounted in line with the primary one, where the base of the secondary is inline with the top of the primary. Make the secondary as long as reasonably possible, with a proper full curved top. Be worth it to see if it improves airflow throughout the rpm range!
